Atalui isn't the kind of NPC you forget five minutes after meeting her. Path of Exile 2 throws plenty of strange faces at you, sure, but she stands out straight away. You meet her in the aftermath of a brutal disaster, the sort of moment where the campaign reminds you that survival in Wraeclast is never guaranteed. Somehow she makes it through, and that alone gives her a bit of weight. By the time you've pushed deeper into the Vaal side of the story and started thinking about upgrades, loot, and PoE 2 Currency, Atalui begins to feel less like a random vendor and more like part of the journey itself.

Where You Find Her
You won't need to do anything clever to unlock Atalui. No weird side path, no hidden event, no fussy quest chain. Just keep moving through the main campaign. After the rougher Vaal areas, she appears in a hub zone where you can finally breathe for a second, empty your bags, and sort your setup out. That's one thing PoE 2 gets right. These little safe spaces matter. Once Atalui arrives, she stays there for the chapter, which is a relief because nobody wants to keep backtracking through dangerous zones just to sell a few blue items and fix a cluttered inventory.

Why Players Actually Use Her
For most players, Atalui's biggest value is simple: she helps you deal with loot overload. If you're like me, your inventory fills up fast with stuff that looked useful for about ten seconds. Selling that extra gear to her for gold keeps things tidy and lets you stay out in the field longer. Her shop can also be worth a quick look. The weapon and armour stock isn't usually amazing, and nobody's building an endgame character around vendor gear, but there are moments when a basic upgrade can carry you through a nasty boss or patch a weak resistance. That's where she earns her place. Not flashy, just useful when you need it.

The Lore Side of Atalui
What makes Atalui more interesting than an ordinary merchant is the way she opens up the world. If you stop and run through her dialogue, there's a lot there. Ask her about Alva and the tone shifts a bit. She's guarded, almost hesitant, which makes the conversation feel more real. From there, you get pieces of history that go well beyond the immediate plot. She talks about the Maraketh, the Primevals, and the mysterious Precursor civilisation in a way that gives the setting more depth. It doesn't feel like throwaway background text either. It feels like old history that still matters, and that's rare in games where vendors usually exist just to buy your junk.

How To Treat Her In Your Playthrough
The smart way to use Atalui is as support, not as your whole plan. Sell off rubbish, check her stock now and then, and listen when she has something worth saying. That's really the sweet spot. A lot of players burn too much gold early because one decent item looks tempting, then regret it later. Better to save your serious investment for crafting, trading, and the bigger economy once your build starts taking shape. If you do need extra help outside the campaign grind, plenty of players also keep an eye on services like U4gm for currency and item support, especially when they want to smooth out progression without wasting hours. Atalui fits into that same practical mindset: useful, reliable, and easy to appreciate once you know what she's really there for.
