A lot of players hit the same point in Endfield. The story keeps moving, enemies get meaner, and suddenly raw operator levels don't feel like enough. That's usually when weapon building starts to matter, and essences become the thing you can't ignore. They don't work like throwaway gear upgrades. It's closer to feeding a weapon the right kind of support so its built-in strengths actually show up in battle. If you're short on time, I can see why some people look into Arknights endfield boosting while they sort out what kind of setup they really want to run.
Where the farm really starts
If you're hunting essences, most of your time is going into Energy Alluvium fights. At the start, you're basically stuck doing the normal versions and hoping the reward screen gives you something useful. Sometimes it does. A lot of the time, it doesn't. That's the rough part early on. Once your exploration level climbs high enough, Severe Energy Alluvium opens up, and that's when farming finally feels less hopeless. You're still spending resources and repeating runs, sure, but the difference is huge. Better rarity starts showing up far more reliably, so it becomes a grind with direction instead of a pure gamble.
Why matching matters more than rarity
This is where plenty of players mess up. They see a higher-rarity essence and assume it's automatically better. Not always. Essences are there to strengthen the perks your weapon already has, not to create a brand-new identity from scratch. So if your weapon leans into flow, twilight, arts damage, or some other trait, the best essence is the one that pushes that exact theme harder. That's the whole point. You're not building a random stat stick. You're sharpening a weapon that already knows what it wants to be. Once you look at it that way, a lower-rarity piece with the correct synergy can beat a shinier drop that doesn't fit your operator at all.
Using pre-engraving without wasting runs
If blind farming drives you mad, pre-engraving helps a lot. Before starting a Severe rift, you can use the pre-engrave option to narrow down what you're willing to accept. Pick three main attributes you can work with, then lock in one secondary or skill-related stat that actually matters for the build. That way, when the essence drops, it isn't completely random nonsense. One of your chosen attributes will appear, and the secondary stat you selected is guaranteed. You're still leaving one part up to chance, so there's no perfect safety net, but it's miles better than burning run after run with zero control. Just don't forget to keep engraving permits stocked, or you'll hit a wall right when the good farming starts.
Putting it all together
Once you've got a decent roll, equipping it is straightforward. Open the operator menu, head into the weapon section, and you'll spot the essence slot near potential. The jump in performance can be obvious straight away, especially on operators whose weapons already have clear damage or utility focus. That's why essences end up feeling so important in the mid and late game. They're not flashy in the way new characters are, but they do a ton of heavy lifting. And if you're the kind of player who likes saving time, checking out U4gm for game-related services can make the slower parts of progression a bit easier to deal with while you focus on building a squad that actually works. |
