Can't get enough NHL rumors? Lyle Richardson's column serves as a one-stop guide to the latest rumblings around the league.
It didn't take long for a favorite to emerge in the Erik Karl son trade sweepstakes. Following reports on Mondayindicating the Senators with the 28-year-old blueliner, it emerged theStars were engaged in trade talks with the Senators.
On Tuesday, The Athletic's Chris Stevenson claiming the Stars were the front-runner for Karl Jaleel Scott Jersey son. He said, at the time,, with the Senators coveting highly touted prospect defenseman Miro Heiskanen. The Stars, however, prefer moving rearguard Julius Honka, who made his official rookie debut last season.
MORE:
It's believed the Senators hoped to package right wing Bobby Ryan and his $7.25 million annual salary-cap hit in any deal involving Karl son. However, Stevenson said Ryan wasn't being discu sed with the Stars. By Wednesday evening, the Ottawa Sun's Bruce Garrioch said talksbetween the two teams , in part because of the July 4th holiday, but the Senators, intent on Heiskanen, now have seemed to move on entirely.

Hearing now things have gone quiet between the Senators and Stars which would support tweet that focus has shifted to Tampa Bay.
Chris Stevenson (@CJ_Stevenson) On Thursday, it was the Lightning who dominated discu sion as the front runner.Garrioch's colleague Don Brennan suggesting the Tampa Bay could be Karl son's destination, and it snowballed from there. By late evening, there was chattera deal is "getting close," with TSN'sShawn Simpson Matt Skura Jersey the Lightning and Senators have finalized the details and the trade is pending approval from the league office. That report was dubbed premature, but it's clear Tampa is now the team to beat.

No confirmation on the report out of Ottawa that a deal is done pending a trade call and while sense is this might be getting close, it's sounds like it's not to that point yet
Lightning Insider (@Erik_Erlend son) With just $4.4 million in salary cap space and Nikita Kucherov and Andrei Vasilevskiy due big raises within the next two years, Brennan pointedout the Lightning would have to ship out some salary to make room for Karl son. TSN'sDarren Dregertweeted a third team may be involved to help facilitate the trade.
WINNERS & LOSERS:

Tampa Jaylon Ferguson Jersey Bay and Ottawa continue to work on an Erik Karl son trade. The NYR may be involved as Lightning need cap room. Callahan back to NY?
Darren Dreger (@DarrenDreger) In addition to the Stars and Lightning, the Golden Knights, Rangers, Sharks and Blue Jackets were believed among other clubs expre sing recent interest in Karl son, with the Rangers' involvement having shifted to third-party status, as Dreger's report notes.
Despite the interest in Karl son, Garriochwrote he believesSenators general manager Pierre Dorion won't move the All-Star defenseman until he's got the right return. He could also still try to package Ryan into the deal, though that could mean accepting a le ser return.
Landing Karl son will be an expensive undertaking for any club. In addition to giving up perhaps one or two good young players in a package deal that'll likely also include draft picks and prospects, the gaining club must also re-sign him.
Karl son isa year away from becoming an unrestricted free agent. It's believed he Chris Wormley Jersey 'll seek a deal comparable to the eight-year, $88 million contract recently signed by blueliner Drew Doughty with theKings.
MORE:
Faulk on his way out of Carolina? On Tuesday, the Hurricanes signed formerIslanders defenseman Calvin de Haan . Hurricanes GM Don Waddell the 27-year-old de Haan will help solidify the left side and upgrade our defense.
Chip Alexander of The News & Observer if the addition of de Haan sets the stage for the departure of long-time Hurricanes defenseman Justin Faulk. Noting the club now have nearly $20 million invested in de Haan, recently acquired Dougie Hamilton, Jaccob Slavin and Brett Pesce, Alexander doubts there's enough money or playing time to go around for Faulk on the Carolina blueline.
Waddell told Alexander hefeels no urgency to make a move but admitted he'll consider his options. With recent speculation linking the 26-year-old Faulk to the Blackhawks,Oilers,Islanders andMaple Leafs, the Hurricanes GM shouldn't have much difficulty finding Tyler Ervin Jersey trade partners. Faulk's $4.83 million annual cap hit and lack of no-trade protection should draw plenty of interest around the league.
GRADES:
Will the Bruins shop Krug? The Bruins' signing of former Devils defenseman John Moore gives them a surplus of quality blueliners. The move provided further fuel to ongoing conjecture suggesting puck-moving rearguard Torey Krug could be shopped to bring in Orlando Brown Jr. Jersey a scoring forward.
Matt Porter of the Boston Globe of Bruins GM Don Sweeney's unsucce sful bids for free-agent forwards John Tavares and Ilya Kovalchuk. He wondered if Sweeney would consider dangling Krug or promising young winger Jake DeBrusk to add a more proven scorer such as Columbus' Artemi Panarin or Philadelphia's Wayne Simmonds.
NBC Sports Boston's Joe Haggerty feelsKrug to land that heavy-duty scoring forward. He cites the 26-year-old's offensive skills (110 points over the last two seasons), especially on the power play.
The Bruins' lack of scoring punch at forward led to their second-round ouster by the Lightning during this year's playoffs. Swapping Krug for a scoring winger could be the best bet to avoid repeating that fate next spring.
